Cyanotype Book 3 of 4

Amanda Chestnut 2015

Hair, especially to women of color, is a source of both pride and anguish. It is measured in consideration of self-worth, and examined by others as an identifying signifier. I have been meditating on the self-portrait. What image could possibly represent the whole of an individual? Instead, I hope to answer a smaller question, by representing something that is both a small part of who I am, and intrinsic to how I view the world, and how I am viewed by it.

All cyanotypes were made in Woodstock, New York, with support from the Woodstock Center for Photography.
